Sixteen PAX came to Foxtrot this morning for their chilly Saturday Beatdown. Thankfully the rain stopped and we were able to do our Beatdown on dry mats. Today was a test of strength!
We warmed up with Jumping Jacks, Through the Tunnels, Leg Swings, Arm Circles, and Windmills all in cadence. I’m fighting a cold, so my 1-2-3s sounded a little pathetic but never the less, our heart rates were up and the layers started to shed. We ran an Indian Run around the big playground loop, with the last Pax sprinting to the front to tell us their FiA name and the last thing they ate. Once we made it back to our spot, we were ready for the first challenge.
The Thang: Test Your Strength
#1 Push-Up challenge: We started with 1 push up followed by 2 Hallelujahs. Then we 2 push ups followed by 4 pHallelujahs. Then 3 and 6, 4 and 8, 5 and 10…all the way up to 20 and 40. It sounds so simple, but those reps really accumulate! We stayed pretty close together, but for time purposes stopped when the first person accomplished 20/40.
We got our heart rate back up with 1 minute of fake jump ropes. It was really hard to move those arms after that challenge!
#2 Squat challenge: Same idea here. We started with 1 Narrow Squat followed by 2 Figure 4 Squats (one legged Squat with other leg crossed over like a four). We increased our count the same way: 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10…all the way to 20/40 again. Whoa did those hurt!
We took a lap to get the heart rate back up and gathered over by the outhouse. We all lined up and got into a wall sit. We passed a sandbag down the line and all the way back, then we released. That wasn’t quite hard enough, so we did it again, each holding the sandbag and counting to 5. That was hard!
We hustled back to the playground and got started on our third challenge.
#3 Ab challenge: 1 In and Out followed by 2 LBCs. Then 2 In and Outs followed by 4 LBCs…all the way up to 20/40 again.
We had one more challenge to do, but unfortunately ran out of time. So we did 2 minutes of our arm challenge.
#4 Arm Challenge: 1 Scarecrow/Chicken Wing followed by 2 Around the Worlds. Increase to 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10.
We stopped right on time and circled up for a prayer and our COT. We had 2 FNGs to name! Berlin was tricky because she loves Wonder Woman just as much as our fearless leader Wonder Woman. But, she finally tossed out Berlin as her favorite band and it fit. Welcome Berlin! Our other FNG was visiting from Florida and so easily tossed out Sunshine. She was just as sweet and beautiful as the Florida Sunshine, so we easily agreed it was perfect.
We raced to our warm coffee and continued the conversation. It was another great Foxtrot Saturday and everyone passed the test of strength. These ladies are the strongest, sweetest, most wonderful ladies and I am so thankful to call them my friends and FiA sisters. Thanks for humoring my crazy ideas ladies!
