I was finally able to do my yearly football beatdown. I tried a month or two ago and the weather didn’t cooperate. But today turned out beautiful. Started off with a little nip in the air but we warmed up pretty quickly. We had a light breeze come through every now and again just to confuse us on how many layers of clothing we needed to be wearing.
We started with some football warm ups from a training video I had seen. We did some side lunges back and forth, Heismanns, airplanes, high knees, and grapevines. We also hugged our knees to our stomach and rocked up to the sky, lunged forward with arms to the sky, lunged with a twist toward the leg in front and some caterpillars (similar to inchworms but when you go down you walk your feet toward your hands). We ended with power skipping and side squats left and right staying low the whole time.
We then moved on to the main deal. I had slips of paper with different football terminology associated with different exercises. In the past I had different PAX pull the paper and announce the play along with the exercise. In these COVID times I decided to pull each slip individually and called it out. We ran a lap every 15 minutes and finished right on time. The list of plays and exercises are in the picture below.
We did COT and NOR before naming Journal as she is a writer by profession.
Thank you to all who donated to Never Alone. We raised $1200 this year helping 48 families have Thanksgiving dinner. I appreciate everyone who donated or said a prayer for any family in need.
