BackBlast:

Monday mornings are always hit or miss.  Seeing as though it is the start of the week, and the end of the weekend, it can be hard to get moving. But never fear, 6 strong ladies met me at the Union to chase away those lingering thoughts, and get things going.  It was a bit chillier than the temperature gage let on, but we warmed up quickly, and kept things moving.

Warm-up:

big arm circles forward and back

left and right toe touches leaning down in cadence

through the tunnels in cadence

high knees, and some jumping jacks until everybody got into position for the beat down

Then a lap around the lot, and on to the Thang…

We started with Jessica ALBA.  ALBA stands for arms, legs, butt and abs.  Here is how it went:

set up mats and weights on one side of the parking lot

The original plan was to do 5 sets of each of these.  I quickly realized that we would run out of time to finish, so I changed a few throughout.  Based on all of the mumble chatter, switching up sets was a good call too, ha ha!

Do 10 of each exercise

Change modes of travel each time to other side and back

5 of each exercise set

(10) Carolina Dry Docks- Bear Crawl over and back to mat

(10 each side) Alt Lunge jumps- lunge walk

(10 each side) Glute bridge w/ leg extension- broad jumps

(10) Full extension toe touches- gorilla hop

Chocolate Chip had a “great” idea to do Carolina Dry Docks at each curb for the first set.  We quickly regretted accepting her challenge, but pushed through 4 sets of these before moving onto the next.

We ended up with 4 sets of each, and had to skip the last set (Full extension toe touches and gorilla hop) due to lack of time.

I had planned an ab challenge for the end, with each exercise AMRAP for 1 minute.  Here was the list.  The idea was to take little to no rest between each exercise:

Reverse crunch

Bicycles

Spider man plank (hop and pull knee up on outside- alt legs)

Mermaid crunch (on side, one arm behind head and other out at angle in front- lift both legs up and top elbow to legs)

Hip dips (in plank) make a rainbow with your booty

We made it though a few before some of the ladies needed to jet.  We did a quick prayer for Choo Choo’s friend Beth, and for those Mammas that have unspoken prayers.  Those that needed to leave at 6:15 took off, and Greyhound and Smooth Operator stayed to finish up with me.

I totally forgot COT (sorry ladies!!), but as always, I loved getting to see each of your beautiful faces this morning!
