It was a beautiful crisp Monday morning at the Union where 7 amazing ladies joined me to start of 2021 with smiles and reps. I was inspired by one of my favorite female pastor’s message last week which included a illustration about elephants. The female elephants run their herd, but they are also compassionate and emotional. The support one another and grieve for one another. When one elephant is in labor, they circle around her and protect her from harm. Here at FIA, we are just like that herd. We celebrate each other’s victories and feel each other’s pain. So today, we did all our exercises together, in a circle. And although it wasn’t the intense whoopin’ like usual, it allowed for some conversations and lots of laughs.
For warmup, we started off with jacks, high knees, through the tunnels and a lap.
Our workout was set to a timer with 1 minute of work and 10 seconds of rest spelling “elephants”
E- Elbow to press
E- Elevated bridge with flys
H- high knees
A- around the world
N- Narrow squat with curls
T- tricep extension
S- Sumo squat
*run a lap
We made it through 2 and 1/2 rounds before circling up and praying for our friends, family and FIA sisters all impacted by this never ending virus. We took a pic and then a lucky few stayed for 3 rounds of abs, same timer with 1 minute on and 10 seconds off.
E- Elbow to Knee (bicycles)
R- Reverse crunches
D- Dead bug (which turned out to look truly like a bug in pain! haha)
It’s an honor to be a part of this “herd” of strong and compassionate ladies. Thanks for starting your day with me.
