BackBlast:

It was a cooler morning than we’ve had all week but that didn’t stop us from sweating! We started with a brief warmup to move our bodies and get our blood flowing and then got right to it. I decided to find some killers from the lexicon this time and so here’s what we did.

The Thang:

Coregasm with a twist of Tabata
60 seconds on/30 seconds off

  1. Double leg extensions
  2. Plank to pike toe touches alt.
  3. Floating leg w/single leg extension
  4. Around the world plank
  5. V-up alt. torso twist
  6. Plank knee pulls
  7. Leg raise corkscrew
  8. Plank jumps
  9. Bicycles (4 slow, 4 fast)

-Rest 30 seconds and Repeat 1x-

Guns of Fire

  1. Bicep curls while passing 10 hammer curls
  2. Lateral arm circles while passing 10 OH Press
  3. Kneeling tricep kickbacks while passing 5 tricep extensions.

-Ran a lap to the stop sign-

Then, I wanted to TEST something new, so we decided to try a game of spoons while doing a lower body Tabata workout. I brought my cards and we all got in position for the starting exercise of a holding glute bridge w/hip abduction for those that had bands and for those that didn’t, just holding a glute bridge. Then we began the timer and started passing the cards. For those that don’t remember how to play spoons, everyone gets 4 cards and the point of the game is to be the first to get 4 of a kind. So, the players can only have 4 cards in their hand at a time and the dealer passes a card from the deck after deciding if it’s one they want or not. Players keep passing the cards until someone gets 4 of a kind. When you get 4 of a kind, normally you grab a spoon and the one left without a spoon gets an ‘S’. However, since we were exercising while playing, we decided that whoever got 4 of a kind first, grabs a spoon and whoever finishes 25 squats first, gets to decide how we get to the stop sign. We had four options.

  1. Paula Abdul (2 steps forward, 1 step back)
  2. Skipping
  3. Walking lunges or run w/sprint at the end
  4. Walking backwards

Shrinky dink won and picked Skipping. It was a lot of fun, but since we were just testing it out we did only one round and finished with Sally, holding a glute bridge. Then we were at time. Dr. Doo Little had to leave early, so we didn’t get a pic with her but she was there! 😉 We circled up for prayer, had Caliente’s 2.0 – Playdough take our pic and said our goodbyes til next time!
