Well the best laid plans don’t always work out. I wasn’t expecting the 20% chance of rain to actually occur but it did and made my note cards illegible so we just went with the flow and did things a little differently that I had anticipated. Everyone still got in lots of steps and calories burned so it was still successful. Disclaimer: Most people run on this beatdown but if you are a walker it works just as well for you. So next time we do it, please don’t let the name of the beatdown deter you from coming and joining in on the fun. We started warm ups with some stretches, pendulum foot swings, TTC (IC), toy soldiers, (IC), and jumping jacks on our own. Then I explained the beatdown.
Five stacks of cones in 5 different colors were hidden around the park. Each stack of cones has an associated exercise. The PAX grouped up to race around the park to pick up the 5 different cone colors then returned to home base. Need a hint on where to find a location? That will cost you 5 inchworms or burpees. In the end, each PAX member will have a stack of 5 different color cones.
Locations & Exercises:
1 – 50 morracan night clubs
2 – 25 pushups
3 – 100 hallelujahs
4 – 25 sets of raggedy anns
5 – 50 sumo squats
Round 2 – this is the way it was supposed to work
Staring at home base, you will choose one color cone from the stack collected in Round 1. You will run to the Round 1 locations, flip over the card to find a color, and a new exercise. You must match the cone to the color on the paper. If you do not match, you must do the exercise and then move on to another location until you find the corresponding color to your chosen cone. If you match, do the exercise, leave the cone, then return to the mat to pick up your next color cone. Want to switch colors at the mat? That will cost you 5 inchworms or burpees. Once all of your cones are gone, return to the mat.
1- 30 lunge sets
2 – 25 sets of fire hydrants
3 – 30 sets of imperial walkers
4 – 50 calf raises
5 – 50 scarecrows
Since it drizzled the PAX couldn’t read what exercises to do for the second round so I let them know ahead of time and they just went around to each location and did the respective exercises. I wish I had photographic evidence of Chocolate Chip and Hallmark get 2 of the exercises confused and do 20 fire hydrants in the grass near the football field with lots of people in the area. But alas I don’t so I will just picture in my mind and giggle. The fastest group had time to do a Route 66 around the large circle stopping at each tree and doing a squat. Each tree that got to they would increase their reps until they did 11 at the last tree. Total of all squats at the end was 66.

We circled up for prayers and nameorama. Phoenix went thru a hard time a couple of years ago and has worked hard to make her life better so it seemed as if she was a Phoenix rising out of the ashes.
