BackBlast:

5 beautiful, even if still a little bleary eyed, PAX met up at The Windmill this morning to get in some miles at our first southside run.

Since everyone wanted at least a 10k today, Southern Charm, being the sweet loving angel that she is (I’m imagining her horror as she reads this description of her…and I’m giggling 😉 ) brought extra energy drinks to wake up her friends and help the miles seem a little less daunting.

So, we all circled up for COT and Name-O-Rama and then we hit the pavement.

Everyone got in between 6.3 and 8.5 miles and reached their personal goals for the day while enjoying some time with their friends. Afterwards, Inspector Gadget and I decided we were still feeling good…so we hit Barnett Park to finish out a solid 13.1 miles for the day.

If you asked any one of us…most of us would say that we don’t consider ourselves runners. Often we think we can’t do the distances we’re going to do…we believe the lies that our minds tell us…our fear of those miles is our imaginary enemy…because we CAN do it and we prove it day in and day out…as did Don Quixote, we tilt at windmills…we fight an imaginary enemy…an enemy that is only in our head…and we win.

And we do it together.
